This company cannot get their act together. They make you wait on hold for hours. The contractors they send to your house are incompetent. They have many layers of red tape when your claim is not processed in a reasonable manner. They should be avoided at all costs.

I have been waiting for over three weeks for the contractor they sent to fix my dryer. After several conversations with HMS, they tell me they are referring my claim to this department or that. In the end, I don't have a dryer and have to hang my clothes out to dry. Who does that anymore?

When I first bought this 23 year old house at the time in 1995, HMS first year was paid by the seller. At that time the deductible was $50. It was a good service. Then HMS went to a $100 deductible. For a few years it was still ok. In the last couple of years, HMS has become a nightmare to deal with. Now HMS lies, their repair techs lie. My last experience with getting my A/C repaired was awful. I finally called a local service company who got it fixed right, for which I paid out of pocket, but it was fixed and I was no longer spending hours on the phone trying to get HMS to live up to its contract. Most recently my washer was malfunctioning, and HMS gave me Sears to contact. Sears told me it would be 10 days before they could get someone out. That was a signal to me that HMS customers were way down on the bottom of priority. I gave up, called a local repair service, they came out that morning and fixed it.

Services like HMS were actually good at one time. Not so today. I won't be renewing. I don't want to deal with the lies and deceit, especially when I end up paying out of pocket to get the job done anyone. I'll put that renewal fee in a shoebox, buy good quality appliances, and over the long haul I will be $ ahead. In addition, I won't have to talk to a bunch of liars.

So sad there are so many businesses these days who have no ethics. HMS is the poster child of unethical practices. But I don't think it matters to HMS.
